Recently, I've been following Shimelle's blog. She loves scrapbooking and her blog entries are so inspiring. I love them.
One sketch caught my eye and I've been wanting to try it ever since.
Here is my take of Shimelle's Scrapbook Sketch of the Week September 21, 2011.

This sketch is so cute and simple. it looks like a fuzz but not really.

I was not going to stick the confetti at first, but since I have so much confetti on my table from the border puncher, what the heck! i stick some confetti and loved that i did.

I could not find my white pen to mark the edges of the frame where the title is. I use white acrylic paint with super fine brush tip instead.

New to Soldering

Some Christmas ago my friend Cabbie made and gave me a nice Christmas present.

Its 2 Christmas kids pictures sandwiched between 2 microscopic slides.

Today, I soldered the edges and placed a jump ring on top to make a pendant.

Its my 1st try on soldering.

The edges are uneven but i think its nice and goes well with the vintage pictures.

oh yes, that is a Mango.

Its my nephew's birthday party and we went to Naga to celebrate his birthday.

And we found this Mango at my sister's house.{look at the size of that mango}

Its by far the biggest mango I've ever encountered.

Yes, its from one of the trees that my Sister's in-laws have in their garden and back yard. Their back yard looks like a small patch of jungle, I got slightly lost on my way back to their house. Its really wide and full of trees and plants. {makes me wish i can have my own plants and garden here in the city.. one pot at a time Symbelly, one pot at a time}

Ribbit

This is my 3rd ribbit. I bought 3 tennis balls, a ball of Lion brand's Cotton Ease and out came 3 little ribbits.
where are the other 2? I gave one to my friend Cabbie who loves Frogs and another one to my sister.

Cabbie kinda inspired me to make a ribbit.
I know she likes frogs and would love to have a this knitted cute frog. So i decided to make one.

How did I end up making 3 ribbits?
well, the tennis balls comes in 3 per pack. and a ball of Lion brand Cotton Ease can make 3 of them.

I recently bought a white Lion brand Cotton Ease. maybe I'll make 3 of these Rabbits.
its stuffed with tennis ball too like the ribbit. but I'm out of tennis balls as of the moment. (we'll see. maybe someday soon I'll knit up 3 rabbits)

Did i mentioned my friend Cabbie is in to knitting and crochet because of me(hehehe).

little knit bunny

I've been wanting to knit this little bunny ever since i saw it from Rebecca Danger's Blog.

I used my leftover yarn from the frog i knitted. (I'll probably post the frog i knitted later...soon)

I love her tail. its too big for her but its what made her cute.

my daughter requested a pink one... she'll have to wait till i have a pink leftover yarn. maybe I'll try a tiny button for her eyes next time.

Twinkling Scarf

I know its too hot here in Manila for a scarf.

but its just too cute and pretty to pass.

i made this from one ball of yarn. its too short for me, but perfect for my little girl...if she would want to wear it (ha ha)
oh well, hope the next scarf i make will be perfect for my size.

Christmas is near

Shopping Sale and frenzy.

for this year, I decided to make something for my sisters, lady cousins, aunties and some of my girl friends.

I can't tell you what it is yet. They may be reading this and it would spoil the surprise.

But I can show you how it looked like wrapped and how I wrapped it.
( I made 9 of these. hope I can make more for more of my girl friends.)

I used the usual paper bag for lunch and sandwiches, tied a ribbon and (my fave)stick "A Visit from Santa" card.

a Little Drawer

My small desk is good to use. Ive transferred my stuff to it and I'm using it as my office and scrapbook nook.

I have some pigeon holes here that are deep.
So I thought i'd make a drawer to keep more stuff in it and hope it'll be good.

I used thick Illustration board.
And A LOT of my scrap papers (yehey, finally i've put my scraps to good use)

Kinder 2

Here is another layout of 1st day of class in kinder 2.

I absolutely love the Cosmo Cricket Jack's World papers.
so adorable and cute.

I used one of my favorite picture here in this layout.
It is the colored picture. It makes me feel like i'm back in school again and i'm sitted just behind my classmate (thats my daughter) while the teacher is lecturing.

i used a sketch i got from Zarah's sketches and inspiration.

This is a back to school LO.

This is how my daughter looks like on the 1st day of being a kinder 2.

she is kinda happy to be back in school, but kinda sad that summer vacation is over.

Materials:
DCWV - glitter stack and fall stack.
MM paint - gress stain, chocolate (mixed them together for the black board like green)

Alterd Frame

Check this out.

Simple altered Picture frame.

How I did This?
-paint the sides of the frame with MM paint - chocolate.
-trace the frame on the patterned paper and cut.
-Stick the paper to the frame.
-sand and ink the edges of the paper.
-Paint over with Gloss finish.

simple and pretty, yeh?

Well this is actually a broken frame.
It broke in to 2 pcs.
I glued them back together with wood epoxy and sand the rough spots.

I was not able to take a picture of the front side before i altered it, but here is the back side of the frame and the front kind of a looks like this before it was alterd.

It is so neat and wonderful to be a scrapbooker.
I can turn broken stuffs like this in to something beautiful.

My Kinder 2 daughter has homework project.
A Go, Grow, Glow food album, it says on the assignment page.
(Album? a bell ringing in my ears... hahahah)

So, my daughter and I made this little album.
She loved sticking rubons to the album.

its just a simple album.
My daughter is very proud of it, coz we made it together... and she gets to use mommy's stuffs. hahahahaha

Hi! this is a mini album a friend of mine asked me to make for her.
She is giving it to her Bf for his birthday.

at last i got to use my lovely alpha stamp here.
stamp from prima i think. bought it from visual creations (mitch)

Its a good thing that the papers matches the pictures she gave me.
My friend needs this rush but has not printed the pictures out yet so I need to make the mini album without knowing what the pictures are.
the pictures here were given to me after i've finish most of the pages.

This page above is her favorite one.

I left a lot of pages without pictures and space for journals and birthday wishes.
she still has a lot of pictures to print out and include in to the album.
and also a lot of birthday wishes from friends and family.

ooooh! i just love crackel paints. and inking them for the added wow power.

Sweet

I love series shots. The happy funny faces my daughter makes while we are playing are just so adorable I print all the pictures and put them on a page. I could not pick out just one.

This is the focus picture that I've put on my page (my friends helped me pick it. thanks GNO girls). I cut out the flowers from a patterned paper and emboss them using foam pad and the round fat end of a pen (a technique i learned from one of the scrapfest demo by the scrappinmoms). The Chicky bird's outline (stamp from pink paisley) is embossed with White embossing Puffs by Ranger, filled it with twinkling H2O watercolor. I distressed the edge of the matting to give it some attitude.

I'm so happy and proud of this tag. I got to use my new embossing folder, yehey!
I embossed a die cut tag. I wanted the words to really show, so i inked it with white ink/chalk pad... but I was not quite satisfied so I heat embossed it with clear powder... I felt that something is still missing and i want to let the words cute, silly and kissable to show (coz that's what my baby is) so i painted it with twinkling H2O. Tada! finally something I like. hehehehehehe.

I love my baby, but the real reason that I've put the word love there is because i damaged that corner with water for the watercolor i was using.
Silly me. I put the water for my water color on the tin cover of my water color container... then I forgot that it still has some water on it and i covered my tin container... woosh goes the water dropped on this corner of my LO and some on the table and some inside the container. Good thing that i use only a little water for my water color.
so I dried the corner with heat gun then find something big enough to cover the damage and still looks good for my LO.

This is my new toy, distress crackle paint and the swirl chipboard (maya road, i split with Au). This is my first time to use distress crackle paint, so I ask my Cabbie for a demo and she helped me apply the paint on to my chipboard. I had fun watching the paint crack (shallow me).

Vien's Drawing on my LayOut.

Hi. I made an Lo with My daughters drawings.

Vien loves to draw and I thought it will be cool to have an LO with her drawings on it. So I gave her a paper and my colored markers and asked her to draw something for me to include on my scrapbook. She drew a picture of her and me and hearts and star and wrote her name. She told me that she is happy when we are together like the drawing she gave me.

I cut her drawings, (coz 8x8 paper kinda fills up a lot of 12X12 space)and here is the LO i made. I painted her drawing with watercolor (so I kinda cheated, hehehehe, but its still her drawings i just colored it).

LOVE... (grandparents and grand daughter)

I love this picture. There is so much love and happiness.
Makes me remember my own grandparents.

My baby Vien is the 1st grandchild in the family, and the 1st girl baby for my parents-in-law.
They have always wanted a baby girl, well, here is one baby girl for them to love and play with.

Thanks to Nita for introducing me to the paper crimper(available at times trading, Binondo).

See the stitches? i hand stitched them, thanks to Au's deckler ruler. I placed the ruler on the paper on the bed, then punch some holes using paper piercer (my case its the ordinary needle). then stitch away.
ooh, ooh and just for fun, I included some beads in to my stitching.

The frame is easy to make.
i cut out a frame from a card stack then run it through a paper crimper...
painted it for distress discolored effect....
stick torn, edge inked pattern paper to it...
Tada! a frame that looks like a corrugated board.

I had to hide these pictures because their background is too dark for the bright LO.
Nice interactive page.
i like to include them on this Lo coz i don't wanna make another one with this same theme (hehehehe, lazy me). and well, the pictures kind of belong together.

i stamped a scallop frame and painted it so that it will pop out.
and, i used my sizzix heart tabs for this. i just love these tabs.

I've got to improve on my journal skills but for the mean time i just stamped a nice tree flower thing on the blank space that i was hoping that i can put some journal on... but my brains went blank too for stuff to write on that space. hehehehehe

Back of the Pencil Case

Well, my Daughter love the pencil case I panted for her.
But, she thinks that the back side of it is a bit plain and want me to add something on it.

I stamped a simple pattern on it.

Now, My nanny likes the back side better than the front.
Hehehe.

Pencil Case

We have a beat up blue MTV tin pencil case.
(beat up - as in literally. my baby boy banged it several times on a lot of hard surface... according to witnesses)

My Daughter, now in kinder 2, needs pencil cases for her English and Chinese class.
when she saw the pencil case, she does not want to use it.
She was all crying and making up excuses why its not a good pencil case and why she can not use it.

me, being stingy and a scrapbooker, got an idea... hmmm(Time to play).
I ask my daughter "if mommy turn the blue pencil case into a pink one with cracks design, will you use it"
She smiled and nod yes... even offered to help. hehehehehe...(i said ok but nah, I'll let her paint on the side but not on the pencil case)

here is the pencil case now. I was not able to take a photo of it before i altered it. i guess i was too excited

I sand it first.
Applied Gesso.
Painted with MM Specialty Glaze - Ruby for base color.
Applied Semco Crackle medium.
Painted MM blush on top. (i love this blush pink color.)
Stamped on it using inque boutique's see d's "the princess" stamp set (inked with mm paints).
rub on 2 flower and a bird painted them with twinkling H2O.

My Daughter likes it and promised to use it. hehehehe.

i did not add dimensions to it like chip boards or ribbons.
rough handling might peel off the chipboard and ribbons... paints. i can always re paint it. hehehehehe.

School Open

its been a very busy 1st two weeks of school.

I got 1 pre-nursery and a kinder 2.

busy running around the school,
adjusting to the new schedule.

My baby boy's 1st day of school ever (pre-nursery)
He loves the toys and the playground.
he listens to the teacher when the teacher is talking to him in particular but when the teacher turns to attend to other students, he is else where playing.

At their classroom, they have a book corner where we can leave some books there and get them back at the end of school year.
I've pick out some books and label them so that the teacher would know whom to return it to.

Usually I would print out the name and section and just stick them to the books, or just write it down with a pen or permanent marker.
But, I'm not feeling usual today. Plus I have these new set of stamps i bought from Visual Creations that I wanna try use or play with.
I used my stamps for the book label.

I'd love to play with the skulls but nah... its a pre-nursery, might give the teacher a difficult with the kids... =) (saving it for more interesting project. hehehehehe)

I made 4 dino and 4 rockets.
Colored them with markers.
I was thinking of embossing them for dimension (and just to play with heat emboss).... but that would be over doing it.

(i got my new stamps stained doing this. but anyway, according to my friend Nita - "a stained stamp is a well-loved stamp.")

MINI book for Ritz

Here is a mini book i made for my friend Ritz.

I dont have her pictures. i thought i'd give her this and let her load it up with her photos.

she usually stops me from buying scrapbook stuffs. Coz she thinks i have a lot of it and dont need to buy more and my money should be put to better use. hehehehe.

One time i was gonna buy me a paint brush at a book store, she told me the book store does not sell it coz they concentrate on office and school supplies... not much on art. she used to work there so she would know.
we went in anyway... guesss what they have the brush i need.

hope she likes it. May 20 is her birthday. She'll probably treat us dinner on saturday. i'll give it to her then.

Its the day of my sister Lanie's wedding. All of us are pretty and dressed.
A Rare occation when we have all our cousins from mother and father's side meet or reunite.
Well, weddings in our family is like a huge family reunion too. (maybe its not just in my family but most weddings in the Philippines.)

They say that My cousin Nickey and I looks a bit alike. Well, I'd say, both of us are beautiful. hehehehe

Kaya Challenge 8

i was planning to join this challenge.
too bad, i did not get to work on my cards earlier in time for the challenge deadline for submission.
i made 7 cards and used the sketch provided by Ms Valerie Salmon for the kaya 8.
too bad i did not get to take the pictures of the other 6... i gave them away on the same day i accomplished the cards, December 31, 2007... in time for a simple reunion with our college friends. (i had the picture taken and printed on the same day Dec 31, 2007)

i used my AL clear christmas stamps (my only christmas stamp set).
some DCWV papers,
mm paints,
"the princess" inque boutique stamp.

i ask my hubby to write "Tan Family". i find my hubby's hand writing much more prettier than mine.

its my first time to give Holiday cards with our family picture on it.
i hope our friends would keep the cards.
i'm going to put this one in my scrapbook.

Clear Acrylic Page

Here is my 1st shot at acrylic sheet Layout.

A friend of mine wants to give something special to her brothers. Something special to remind her brothers that they have a family that loves them here in manila. They, her brothers, are usually abroad, they come home to manila for the holidays.

she wants her brothers to be able to display the Layout and see it everyday. The Scrappin Mom's Idol final challenge gave me the idea of using acrylic sheet. i remember that they put the final Layouts on a stand to show them to the crowd. So i thought to give it a go. another idea was the shadow box, but i would have to look for it and travel to the seller and buys it. But, i just have this 1 week time to accomplish the Layout in time for Christmas. Acrylic sheet is more convenient for me. my friend Michelle sells them at Visual Creations, and we meet almost every Fridays.

my inspiration for this layout is my friend Nita's kaya Challenge Layout entry Favorite things. i had this in mind when i started creating this Layout. things changed while i was making it. (thanks Nita for the inspiration)

my sister ordered these last 3 weeks ago.
i made them just this past 2 days.
was busy and could not get to work on them earlier.
i had to rush these cos my sister needs them this morning at 4 am before she leaves for work. (buti na lang umabot)

i played with MM paint, MM foam stamps Floral Dingbats and acrylic paint crackel medium.
these tags got color requirements like torquoise blue, ateneo blue, baby blue and white/blue/pink/yellow.
i mixed up some colors to hopefully get the right shades.
i could not find any PPS on my stacks with these colors so i had to use paints mostly.

i love the cat stamp. (bought at Visual Creations)
the tag name is "KAT" so i thought a cat on the tag would be clever...
plus its my chance to use the cat stamp.

i hope my sister likes the tags.
i also hope that the gals whos names are on the tags loves them too.

i did not get to heat the edges of the ribbons. hope they dont mind.

Bedtime Blues

This is my attempt to layering patterned paper.
The LO is about one of those nights where we get to play before bedtime.

journaling reads:

i had a lot of fun putting all the papers together positioning them and adding things as i go along.

i love the bear.
i dry emboss it and put some ink on it.
turned out pretty.

i stamped the arrows to emphasize what my baby did to his dad.
i bought the stamps from Visual Creations. this is my chance to use and put arrows on my LO. these arrows are so cute.

My Hubby love this LO..... coz its about him and his son. (hehehehe)

Wedding Anniversary Flowers

august 4, 2007... 5th wedding anniversary.
i was really surprised to find a bouquet of lovely flowers sitting on my office chair.
(dont tell my hubby, i forgot our wedding anniversary.)
super kilig ako.
5 years and he still remembers, and still took the time and effort gives me flowers.
it puts a smile on my face, and made my day.
we have our shares of highs and lows, and became much closer and intimate.
i love the good times we had, it was fun and all good... of course.
i'm greatful for the low and unplesant things we've been thru, made me a stronger person, showed my quality and level of maturity, and best of all, forge our marriage stronger and closer.

these flowers stayed for 2 to 3 weeks in my office.
i smile whenever i see the flowers. reminded me that i'm loved and dear to my husband.
takes my stress away while i'm working.

i love the flowers... and most of all, i love the person who gave them to me, my hubby.

wedding gift for my sister

i made this album last year(2006) in time for my sister's (ana) wedding on january 2007 in china.

i have my sister stephanie to help me work on this one.
and i let everyone pitched in on the dedications and wishes too, to make it extra special.

my sister ana is living with her husband, home based in china.
its really far away from us here in the philipines.
at most, we'll get to see each other ones a year, if she comes to the philppines to visit.

i'm happy that she loves the album.
i've put all my love to this album.
hope that she feels the love whenever she opens it.

and she'll have pictures of us to show her babies.

Not Really a Blogger Type

i guess i'm not really the blogger type, takes me a long time to put something on my blog spot...
that or i'm just not hooked enough yet.

i'm determined to keep this blog updated.

i'm busy with things (excuses), thats why i cant update my blog spot as often as i wanted.
i got a day job monday to saturdays and i've got 2 kids to take care of, a house to run...
that and i'm kinda a spoiled/protected child who is used to my parants caring for me(hard to admit but its kinda true).

i wanna take hold of my life, do what i wanna do and accomplish things...
but i dont really have that enought courage in me.
i think i blame my failures to people who i think gives me a hard time(easier than to admit its all me).

i'm not the best writer or anything but i'm not being evaluated here... or am i?(hehehehe)
i got a problem with sticking to a topic.
and another problem with the feeling of being evaluated by a teaher in school.
still have nightmares of school days.

blogger or not, i'm gonna keep this blog spot.

looking at the work of other scrapbookers....

i love looking at the works of other scrapbookers.

i get a lot of ideas,

they inspire me to create Layouts of my own.

and they are pretty to look at.

on the other hand,
i got some down sides on viewing the wonderful works of other scrapbooker.

sometimes i feel frustrated,

like how i'm such a failure in the hobby that i love,
like other Layouts "rock" and mine does not,

but... thats all in my head.

i've got some albums that rocks too...

like the one i made for my officemate. and the one i made for my sister.

got an LO that won the hearts of some people and i got a price for it(runner up in a challenge, thanks scrapin moms)

looking at the works of others inspires me... its up to myself to appreciate my works more.

i wish i can acomplish an 1 8x8 album in 2 nights

working with a scrapbook layout takes a lot of time for me.
i'm not yet that fast. i heard some scrapookers can finish an album overnight.

practice makes perfect. and like most talents and abilities, we develope over time.

just finished this album on may end 2007.
i made this for my friend.
her daughter graduated from prep. school.

i enjoyed making this scrapbook album.
it gave me an opportunity to use daisyd's lullaby-girl.
my first time to use a paperpack thats not a DCWV in one album.
coordinated, pretty set of papers.
i had fun trying on some new things and ideas.
